Book Two in the Ripper/Rho Agenda series

Ex-CIA assassin Jack Gregory has been hired for a singular mission: to journey to South America and rescue an imprisoned shaman. Beloved by the struggling masses and feared by the ruling elite, shaman Tupac Inti is destined to unite Bolivia's indigenous people and bring down the corrupt government. But Jack isn't the only one trying to track down the shaman. For only Tupac knows the location of the immeasurably powerful Sun Staff, and both the National Security Agency and neo-Nazis are hot on his trail...and neither group plans to let him live.

The clock is ticking, and Jack must find and rescue Tupac before more sinister forces get to the shaman first. When Jack comes face-to-face with his equal - a stunningly beautiful NSA agent - he wonders if he can still pull the trigger and save his mission...even if the decision costs him his very soul.

Predictable but good

I feel this nostalgic feeling when reading this. The writer uses they spy detective formula from the 50's and 60's to keep his reader engaged. The writing and story are thin but it didn't stop me from reading this in less than 2 days.

just keeps getting better.

This series is quite enjoyable. Flawed heros, hidden agendas, and plenty of action. Can't wait to find out what happens next.

Better than the first one

This is a really slick spy novel with some slight sci-fi overtones. The novel is finally starting to become more sci-fi oriented, which is good in my opinion. It still is 90% a spy novel but the main thrust of the novel is about alien technology. It also advances the main chacters issues with the mind worm slighty, but way too slowly for my taste.

This is a fun action packed book and Macleod Andrews does an awsome job with the reading. This one is not really sci-fi (but it is getting their) but still a solid spy novel which is worth a listen. I look forward to seeing where the author goes with this series.

So much better than Book 1

Any additional comments?

In this story you get to learn a bit more about the demon sharing Jack's body and the betrayal is so much more intriguing to me than anything else!

I was worried that whatever romantic notions between Jack and Janet would ultimately overshadow what I had hoped to be just an action packed read but I needed not worry. Though I prefer no romance especially within an op team and mission, it didn't take over the story and the new cast of characters were a great edition to the mission. Though I was bummed one of my fav characters died because I wanted to learn more about that person.

Overall, Mr. Andrews performance was delivered once again a performance that went beyond the call of duty in excellence, the plot becomes more intriguing the more you learn about Jack and his demon, and with fantastic action scenes this story kept entertained from beginning to end.

Story was hard to keep focused on.

Story was hard to stay focused on. It felt like filler. I read the second ship series before this one and that one was much better.

Glad the story moved from supernatural to sci-fi

For once, I get to go with the majority: this book is noticeably better than book 1. The supernatural aspects from book one are better explained here - in fact, they are now identified as coming from a sci-fi source. It makes much more sense to think of Jack as hosting an alien life-form, than as being possessed by a demon-like spirit. (Well, it does for me since I like action-sci-fi and don't like supernatural-ghost based writing).

The story seems to start off a bit sluggish... but if you make it through the first 1/4, it really picks up into a decent action novel. Lots of non-graphic violence and bad guys bite the biscuit on a regular basis. There is no romantic component to this novel - maybe a quick mention that Jack and Janet had a previous relationship, but no sappiness or sex goes on in here...

The story is independent of the first book, and it is fully wrapped up here too. The next book in the series might have the same characters, but it will have to be a completely different 'mission' since all the bad guys got their just desserts here.

The narration is very good. There is some non-graphic violence and only very occasional swearing, no sex. I'll read the next in the series.

Great story ; I felt like I was part of it.

The author created a great follow-up to the first part. The book is hard to put down. I cannot wait for the final installment.
