Story
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Largely confined to his home, Daniel spends the hours he’s not online communicating with irate air travelers observing his neighborhood from his front porch. Publisher's summary
Vince Ciacci wanted to be a "Made Guy". From the time he left the brutality of upstate New York's Coxsackie Reformatory, he worked for "Wiseguys", committing armed robberies, collecting for the Mob, and dreaming of the day that he would "get his button".
He never made it into the Mafia's inner sanctum. Why? He was too crazy and too violent. Hooked on drugs and alcohol, Vince was a loose cannon, so dangerous that his own crew considered taking him out.
This is his story, told in his own voice. It's the story of a guy who, by all rights, should be dead or in prison today. Come along for the ride in a story of true crime like you've never heard before.
"Ciacci's colorful New York accent sounds like he's straight from central casting. His delivery is casual and captivating. He presents his life as is, without apology, and often ends his stories with a self-deprecating chuckle that seems to suggest he can't believe his past himself." - Publishers Weekly (audio review)

Story
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

The Mafia in the United States might be a shadow of its former self, but in the New York/New Jersey metro area, there are still wise guys and wannabes working scams, extorting businesses, running gambling, selling drugs, and branching out into white collar crimes. And they are continuing a tradition that's over 100 years old. Some of the most powerful mobsters on a national level were from New Jersey, and they spread their tentacles down to Florida, across the Atlantic, and out to California.

This is the most racist, sexist repetitive book I've listened to and I've listened to many. He even says a young girl who was gang raped asked for it! He repeats himself over and over from chapter to chapter. Can't figure out why this gets high ratings.

This is NOT a mafia book.
The words "mob" and "mafia" are in the title to sell books. Inside, they are barely mentioned. God bless him for straightening his life out, but the story is hardly compelling. A talented editor and narrator may have been able to salvage something here, but both are absent in this effort.

A good yarn
The best thing about this book , was that it was free. 60% of this book is total bs. I went to commerce hs in 1963. Nothing like he said. After reading half the book I had to stop. Just more bs after more bs. For example, he keeps bringing up all the armed robberies he did. NEVER GOT SPECIFIC, never any meaningful details. Not a bad book. Just a book written by a guy with a big imagination.

This could have been an interesting story but this person does not links how to write. It’s totally unedited .
The music during narration is not needed. Don’t waste your time

Not bad.
Redemption is always a great way to end a story, and I am genuinely happy for what people do to overcome their shortcomings.
However, it sounded like he often justified evading the law by attributing it to God. It seemed like a flagrant attempt to disregard self-accountability for all the bad things he did.
I wasn’t quite fond of how every part started with him introducing himself again. 🤷🏻♀️

Vince Mobshot
I enjoyed this story very powerful. He doesn't mess around and say it as it is.

Excellent
I really enjoyed this. It's a personal story not a crime novel. It would be great to sit with this guy and follow up with questions about this or that. Salute.

A story you can take something away from
Good for Vince.
I would have liked to hear more about his current life.
It’s much more interesting than his knock around days. They are very typical stories. The redemption is the exceptional part of the tale.

Fuhgeddaboudit...
In depth, honest and straightforward. Simply didn’t want it to end. A great story teller.
