Fantastic narration for this literary classic!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. The fact that I was gifted this book had no influence over my opinion of it

Hawthorne builds the frame of the story on the travail of a woman accused of adulterous relations. His is a fascinating illustration of values in conflict, and how those conflicts shape us even more than the values themselves.
The end of the story was truthful and poignant in describing the feelings and consequences of the battle, it’s scars and the wisdom gained by those open to the pain of struggle. To those who revel in struggle alone, in revenge and hate, their lives - as illustrated in this story - are grim and wasted.
Regarding the reading I suggest listening to a sample before purchasing. It didn’t detract from the story for me but for some the reader’s sing-song pacing of the sentences and an occasional misplaced accent or pronunciation might prove distracting.
This is not an uncommon fault and may be present in other readings as well in greater degree, so it’s necessary to keep this observation in perspective, in my judgment. I have returned books before on this count, and didn’t sense this rendition of the story required that.
I received this book at no cost on condition that I provide my unbiased review.
