Great Novella

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Elizabeth Klett does an amazing job at bringing these wonderful characters to life and recreating all the mystery, suspense and emotion of a well-written, classic story. The storyline drew me in and I kept wanting to hear more.

What does Elizabeth Klett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love the expression Elizabeth puts into her books and she carries off different accents well, especially if the book is not American based. I have listened to many of her recordings and she is a favourite of mine in her narration. I listen to audiobooks so it frees my hands to knit or iron.

Any additional comments?

I would highly recommend listening to this book to lovers of classics, mysteries, romance and historical fiction.

Enjoyable Novella by the Author of Little Women

I love Louisa May Alcott's classic novel Little Women, so it was enjoyable to listen to this very different short novel which is more suspenseful and sensational. Elizabeth Klett does a nice job narrating, with British accents for the various characters.

Unusual mystery from Alcott; wonderful narration

Would you listen to The Mysterious Key and What it Opened again? Why?

Yes, it was a fun listen. The mystery kept me engaged and yet I also found it relaxing to listen to the story.

Have you listened to any of Elizabeth Klett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, she is a favorite narrator of mine. She has a pleasing voice, and also does wonderful accents and characterizations for the different people in the story. I would recommend her as a reliably excellent performer.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I wasn't able to but it was a good length to listen straight through. It would make a good one to listen to on a drive.

Any additional comments?

This is not a "typical' Alcott but I'm glad that I have heard it. Definitely would recommend this.

Very interesting story that keeps your attention

Have you listened to any of Elizabeth Klett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Elizabeth Klett is consistent in her work and a "go to" narrator for me. She is outstanding at adding dimension and personality to each character with her narrative style. She's always a pleasure to listen to and easy to follow.

Any additional comments?

This is a book if mystery and intrigue and keeps engaged and guessing throughout. Definitely a fun and easy read with an interesting twist. I can easily recommend it.
