If you're looking for an audiobook to help pass the time of reading Huck Finn to yourself, this is the audiobook for you. The narrator uses many different voices for each character, which makes the story exciting and enjoyable. There are also sound effects that go along with some of the scenes, which also helped keep me involved in the story. I tried another audiobook before happening across this one, and I would've been listening to that thing for ten years if I didn't switch to this version. This narrator speaks fast enough to keep things interesting but not fast enough so that you can't understand what he's saying or you miss some words. I highly recommend this audiobook. It's the only way I was able to finish the book for class.
The reading of this book was actually quite annoying. It seemed as though the narrator was trying too much to dramatize each word which, in my opinion, had the effect of sounding extremely loud and childish. Most of the dramatization was simply too overdone and I found myself wishing he would just read instead of trying to almost put on a one- man play. It seemed as though he was shouting rather than reading and the voices each character took on were overly exaggerated in their inflections. I just did not enjoy this particular narration. Also, despite the description of the "complete" adventures of Huck and Tom, it was almost entirely all about Huck. Though I know it is geared for children, this narrator didn't have to read it as though the listener was probably a toddler. All in all, I would not recommend this particular version as an audiobook, especially when you consider the cost. Compared to the free version of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer through my Audiobooks app, this book missed by a mile in its narration.
