Publisher's Summary

In this classic American adventure, Jack London explores the laws of civilization and wilderness - and the pull of instinct - through the eyes of Buck, a half Saint Bernard, half Scottish shepherd. Stolen from his comfortable life in California, Buck is sold into service as a sled dog during the Klondike Gold Rush, where returning to his primordial nature is the only way for him to survive.
London drew on his own experiences as a prospector in the Canadian wilderness, as well as the philosophies of Charles Darwin and Friedrich Nietzsche, for this enduring tale of survival.
Revised edition: Previously published as The Call of the Wild, this edition of The Call of the Wild (AmazonClassics Edition) includes editorial revisions.

A Classic

My family shared this experience while driving to Alaska and passing through the towns mentioned in the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Call of the Wild (AmazonClassics Edition)?

We discussed the book with our children each night. I was wonderful to hear them retell the day's chapters and learn their thoughts on the characters and story.

Mr. Dressler provided great talent to bring voice and human thought to animals.

A life full of love and sorrow leading to a live well lived.

One of those books I skipped in High School

Jack London was, during his lifetime, one of the best selling authors ever. This is one of his classic stories. Buck, the dog, could have been brought up by Ayn Rand.

Glad I read this classic.
