Publisher's summary

The Art of War dates back to the fifth century BC, and is an ancient Chinese military handbook. Attributed to the intelligent military strategist Sun Tzu, the title of the work is Master Sun's Rules of Warfare when literally translated from Chinese. The book contains 13 chapters, each of which are dedicated to a single aspect of warfare strategy. Emperor Shenzong of Song deemed it the most important of China's Seven Military Classics in 1080 and it is still one of the most influential strategy texts in East Asia. Leaders such as Mao Zedong, General Douglas MacArthur, and General Vo Nguyen Giap are said to have drawn inspiration from Sun Tzu's famous work.

Straight forward translation

Don't expect full context this is just the straight forward translation of Sun Tzu classic.

Robotic Narration

Listening to this was almost as painful as listening to my car's google maps. Which is why I have it on mute now. I can't mute an audio book though.
I was very surprised that someone thought this was a publishable narration.
This is the first audio book that I've ever rated less than four stars.

you have to read or hear more than once

it is a good book but gets better with multiple read's, to be able to interpret it for more modern day application

Thank you

Thank you Mel Foster for reading this book to me. You did a great job. I have heard about this book for many years, but just never picked it up, or had the time to read it.

I can see why this book has stuck around through the years.

The narrator is terrible...just terrible

The narrator is terrible. Why on earth would they allow him to narrate such a wonderful book. Poorly done..

old strategy in the new world might be useful.

I'm sure the translation is done well and I enjoyed listening to this while learning some older but still solid words on ware strategy. some say these words can be used in other ways and I intend to attempt to use them if I can figure it out. well done.
