Publisher's summary

The timeless original text; required listening for anyone interested in strategy. This is a work of subtlety and paradox that shows the way to a clean and aesthetic triumph. Sun Tzu insisted that a skilled warrior observes, calculates, outwits, and outmaneuvers an adversary, and in doing so averts the destruction of battle.

Includes a soundtrack entitled "The Mysterious Sound of Wind in the Bamboo", a 43-minute 14-track collection of Zen-inspired Japanese music by the Matsu Take Ensemble.

Great book... didn't speak to my soul tho

If put into context of when it was written it is quite a work of art. But in present day I can't say I learned a ton from it

It was not what I expected

I expected this to be a more storyline book with sections describing what is the best method of attack in certain situations and going over why and how. However, this was more a very long list of things you should do in order to have the upper hand in battle. I have been in a lot of situations in war, and this is good information, but I wanted something I could relate to business. Now I know that if I want to take over a company I need to be downwind from them. Or at least make sure the sun is in their eyes.

Half of the audiobook is Asian flutes

The audible version of The Art of War contains widely applicable wisdom of strategies for gaining success over any opponent followed by several 'chapters' of utterly useless music.

Half is just music

Chapter 15 and up is just music. Very disappointing. Should have cost less. Anyway you get a great deal of knowledge.

Great classic!

A must read for anyone interested in Chinese history or politics. The principles in Sun Tzu's The Art of War are simple but for its time revolutionary! Many modern strategists in military, politics and -recently- business claim to use its enduring principles.

I would listen to a male vice narrator rather than the female one here, just to keep the imagination of Sun Tzu himself talking. Of course the female narrator did a good job anyway.

I enjoyed it.

The audiobook is about an hour. The second hour is flute music. Kind of nice.

Really good information with insightful material

Really good information with insightful material ; however, the narrator could be somewhat dry and difficult to understand.

Loved every minute

I loved every minute of the content.
The only disappointing/ confusing thing was that it suddenly changed into music.. without any notice. I didnt understand how the music is connected.

However I still give it 5 star because the content was just amazing.
