Publisher's Summary

When choosing a partner, should a young person follow their heart or be guided by the voices of age and experience? In the context of intimacy, can emotion and instinct be wiser than practicality and objectivity? These are the conundrums explored by Jane Austen in this, her final novel.
Anne Elliott at the age of 19 was deeply in love with Captain Wentworth, but she was persuaded by Lady Russell - her dead mother's closest friend - to break off her engagement with him because he had neither status nor fortune. Anne loses her bloom and all hope of ever falling in love again, until eight years later, chance brings Captain Wentworth back into her world.
Success at sea has earned him wealth and honours, but can he ever get over his anger and hurt pride, and can or should Anne now resist the influence of Lady Russell, who still does not approve of Captain Wentworth?

Wierd narration!

If you could sum up Persuasion in three words, what would they be?

Persuasion is a favourite of mine

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She has the most peculiar drawling accent and she put emphasis in a very odd manner. There was no voice characterization and the total effect of her wired enunciation almost ruined the book for me..... fortunately Jane is such a consummate artist that I persevered but I will now have to find another version ot this book from Audible. I will avoid any other books read by this strange narrator however much O love the book :(

Any additional comments?

Do not encourage this narrator. I do not think she is a professional and detracts greatly from the source material :(
