Publisher's summary
When a novel like Huckleberry Finn or The Yearling comes along, it defies customary adjectives because of the intensity of the response it evokes in the reader. Such a tale is Old Yeller; to listen to this eloquently simply story of a boy and his dog in the Texas hill country is an unforgettable and deeply moving experience.

Story
The Swiss Family Robinson is a classic novel by Johann David Wyss, first published in 1812, about a Swiss family of immigrants whose ship en route to Port Jackson, Australia, goes off course and is shipwrecked in the East Indies. Upon reaching a nearby island, the family sets up a makeshift camp. William knows that they must prepare for a long time on the island, and his thoughts are as much on provisions for the future as for their immediate wants. William and his oldest son, Fritz, spend the next day exploring the island.

Story
In 1918 Wisconsin, 11-year-old Sterling North has an almost perfect life. He keeps skunks in the backyard, goes everywhere with his enormous Saint Bernard, and is building a canoe in the living room. The only trouble is life gets a little lonely for him and his father since his mother died. While scouting around the woods one afternoon, he discovers an abandoned, month-old raccoon. Afraid the kit will die on its own, he takes it home to join his menagerie.

Man and his dog, the greatest bond.
This has always been one of my favorite stories since I was a boy. I remember wanting a dog like Old Yeller since I was old enough to read. The author does a great job at telling the story through the struggles a 19th century frontier family would go through, but still highlighting the good times they still had. It's a sad story, but it will also make you laugh.

a classic
The same story from my childhood, only on Audible. It's great. The ending is still a heart felt, tear jerker but this is how life is at times.

One of the Finest I’ve heard.
A timeless tale from the pioneer days, that will make feel as if you’ve lived there. Perfect narrator delivers a Real story as if you were hearing it from Travis (main character) himself.

One of Best stories of a boy and his dog
loved this story and the way narrator read it. To me one of the very best written stories of a boy and his dog. Have owned me many old yellow dogs in my life. That was because of the movie. The book is a hundred times better
