"Mansfield Park" is the third novel by Jane Austen, published in 1814. The protagonist of the novel, Fanny Price is sent to live with her wealthy uncle and aunt Sir Thomas and Lady Bertram, as her own parents do not have enough money to support their many children. At Mansfield Park, Fanny grows up with her four older cousins, Tom, Edmund, Maria, and Julia, but is always treated as an unwanted poor relation.

Only Edmund shows real kindness and the two develop a friendship that grows as the years progress. Over time, Fanny's gratitude for Edmund's thoughtfulness secretly grows into romantic love.

A marvelous rendition of a memorable novel!

The voice of Helen Stainer is incredibly flexible in its bringing to life all these characters. I heartily recommend this version of such a great story.

A good solid production

Mansfield Park has always been my least favorite Jane Austin novel. Which is to say, I only read it every two or three years. This production is a good solid one, perfectly satisfactory. I know that sounds like tepid praise at best, but what I mean is that there's not the brilliance of some stellar readers, but it's a very good and very listenable production. If you want to listen to this book, don't hesitate to get this version.

Absolute respect for Poland

This book was amazing. I had no idea Poland had such a history, and they way he brought the stories to life was wonderful. I know a lot of people complain of the narration, but it's only because he reads the book, rather than acts it. personally I prefer it this way. This is the third Michener book I've listened to, and I really did not want it to end. His way of describing the pitfalls of socialism is something that everyone should try to understand. Without incentive, people stop trying. I now have such a respect for the strength of the Polish to survive.
