Publisher's Summary

Fanny Price, a young girl from a poor family, is being raised by her rich uncle and aunt, Sir Thomas and Lady Bertram, at Mansfield Park. She grows up with her four cousins, Tom Bertram, Edmund Bertram, Maria Bertram and Julia, but is always treated as inferior to them; only Edmund Bertram shows her real kindness. He is also the most virtuous of the siblings: Maria and Julia are vain and spoiled, while Tom is an irresponsible gambler.Over time, Fanny's gratitude for Edmund's kindness secretly grows into romantic love.

Boring and badly read

As if the book was not boring enough--lots of talks that do not bring anything to the story or the characters, endless trivial babble-- not Austen's usual pace at all--Anne Flosnik only makes things worse. Her reading is that of a first grade teacher to her students. Not to mention the porridge she keeps in her mouth at all times. Most disagreeable. I also got Northanger Abbey read by her (before I knew better) and although the novel is far more interesting, the reading is just as bad. I am sorry I didn't pick the abridged version of Mansfield Park read by the wonderful Juliette Stevenson. Juliette has the most wonderful and versatile voice. She is a true actress. Her male voices are convincing and even sexy. Anne Flosnik's male voices are ridiculous.
