Good Short story lousy narration
I am a big fan of H. Rider Haggard and his Alan Quartermaine stories. Right off the bat, this is a short story in which Alan Quartermaine recalls a lion hunt that he went on many years before the happenings of King Solomon‘s Mines. Though short, it is an interesting story. However, the narrator of this particular audio book was terrible. She has a strange way of speaking where the end of every word trails on longer than it should, and tells the story with no personality. I would recommend the story, but not this narrator.

Why, why why?!
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
People who enjoy self mutilation, I suppose
What other book might you compare Long Odds to and why?
Haggard's Allan Quatermain novels are fantastic. The story is fantastic, the narrator is god awful and irritating beyond my wildest imaginings.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Her accent was horrendous, it made me want to saw my head off with a plastic spoon.
What character would you cut from Long Odds?
None, they were all wonderful. It was the narrator, her voice should be used to break down terrorists at Guantanamo Bay.
Any additional comments?
I think I've said enough.
