This short story of unmentionable horror by H.P. Lovecraft is told by an unnamed named narrator (in this case Mike Vendetti) a friend of a mad scientist scientist named Crawford Tillinghast who is invited into Tillinghast's laboratory. Tillinghast may be mad, but he is intelligent, and he has invented a machine that affects a person's pineal gland and allows them to witness the hordes of strange and horrific creatures defying description that live invisibly among us. Fortunately they don't bother us unless the machine is running, and they are discovered. When the creatures realize they have been discovered a "transport". The creatures had already "transported" Tillinghast's house servants by the time the unnamed narrator arrived. Will he be able turn off the machine before they "transport" the known world?
