Publisher's Summary

Originally written as a protest against cruelty and ill treatment of horses, this compassionate tale has captured the imagination of generations of children. The saga begins with Black Beauty as a young thoroughbred in a stable with his beloved Squire Gordon, who is forced to sell the horse, beginning a tragic but exciting journey. The sweet-tempered horse must deal with broken knees, narrow escapes from disaster, and the drudgery of pulling a London cab for a cruel owner, before he finally experiences the well-deserved peace of his later years.

Don't buy it. It's a rip off

The recording is so poor you can't even hear the story. I got ripped off. Don't buy this recording is should not be for sale. I downloaded it but it only has the poor quality recording download available. I tried to get a refund from customer service and it's too bad.

Hard to hear

I have always loved this story. But this version is really hard to hear. I don't know if it is because the reader's voice is so low or what but I can barely hear it with the sound all the way up.
