Cannot listen to this...

Why is this narrator so choppy? Always breaking in the wrong spots... No flow to the reading... I cannot finish such a great book read to me like this...

narration is BAD

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I have loved this story since childhood and looked forward to listening to it - unfortunately, the experience is rather painful.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the nonchalance of the whole and the subtle humor.

What didn’t you like about Alan Munro’s performance?

The voice itself is pleasant but the manner - it is quite bad. Stilted, broken, pompous, with strange accents and even more strange pauses - it seems the narrator just learned to read about 25 minutes ago and this is the very first book he ever reads aloud.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Around the World in 80 Days?

I'd change the narrator.

A Great Story - A Terrible Narration

What disappointed you about Around the World in 80 Days?

The performance was very choppy and extremely distracting. I could not continue with this volume.

What did you like best about this story?

The story itself is excellent and rightly considered a classic.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alan Munro?

Someone who can read a sentence without pausing in inappropriate spots.

What character would you cut from Around the World in 80 Days?

none. The characters work perfectly.

Any additional comments?

Get another version of this classic story. One that you can actually sit through listening to. I could not do that with this performance.

Atrocious narration.

Great story. Terrible narration. He sounds like a one-lunged marathoner. It was very annoying to listen to.

awful narrator. like a robot.

Almost impossible to listen to. Narrator is robotic. The flow of sentences is really hard to follow.

great book, mediocre reader

i enjoyed the book very much, but the reading was unpolished and awkward. i would suggest reading the book before your attempt at recording it.

Garbled Audio

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator has a great voice, but his repeated and terrible mispronunciation of "monsieur" made me wince every time.

Any additional comments?

I know that this audio book was bargain-priced, but it ended up being worthless, because the audio is completely garbled/unintelligible beginning in Chapter 5.

Terrible narration

I agree with the previous review that the narrator has a terrible habit of pausing in the middle of sentences for no apparent reason. I was trying to purchase the Naxos audiobook but somehow ended up with this version instead due to a really bad Amazon user interface.

The worst

This is one of my favorite books. Sadly, this narrator destroyed it. From the horrible timing, to the misprounciation of Passepartout, I found it impossible to listen to. Unfortunately, I'm finding more and more books that are poorly engineered, poorly read, and poorly edited. It feels like these performers walk into the booth and start recording without ever having read the book.

Poor reading of the story

It was a great book, but it sounded like the narrator was reading the book for the first time. There were a lot of odd pauses.
