A must read!

This book is a must-read! It held my attention from start to finish. When I had to put it down, I couldn't wait to get back to it. The writers helpe d me to have a clearer idea of how our worldview affects our culture and how our culture affects our worldview. And if that isn't enough, it also has great suggestions for talking with Children and Youth about worldview and how it affects them. A great read that I am putting it into action.

Not just for the next generation

John Stonestreet and Brett Kunkle, supported by an excellent performance by Jim Denison, present an excellent picture of the issues our kids will run into in today's culture and how to respond to them. This book walks the listener through an understanding of why culture matters, how to read culture, how to live in culture and finally how to be a Christian in culture today. Written from a Christian stance, this book provides good insight into the top areas of culture a Christian will struggle with and offers good advice and resources on how to engage with that culture in a winsome and loving way. A great book which not only applies to our children but also the current generations as well. Highly recommended.

A bit oversimplified

While I agree with many of the items addressed, it seemed a little oversimplified. There were a few times I thought the writers used partial explanations or ideas that may not have been well thought out. For example when talking about television shows or movies, the statement to watch a classic movie was an alternative to something new that may have a gay character. While it seems to me we sexualize just about everything today, the classic movies had their share of issues as well. The first thing that came to mind was when I recently turned on Dumbo the classic Disney animation. I hadn’t seen the movie in many years and wow it has a very racist scene I totally forgot about.
I appreciate the concept the book was describing, and I understand it is a very complicated topic, but I was hoping for a bit more.

Amazing

Probably one of the most useful books on what Christianity looks like in the midst of a confused and lost world

Spot on

I thought a practical guide to culture was spot-on in their assessment of what it is like in today's society. I also think they address well how to react and train your kids to live in this culture. Great book
