Publisher's summary

The business titans and number-one New York Times best-selling authors of Winning return with a modern, essential guide for everyone in business today - and tomorrow - that explores the most pressing challenges related to creating winning strategies, leading and managing others, and building a thriving career.

In the decade since their blockbuster international best seller Winning was published, Jack and Suzy Welch have dug deeper into business, traveling the world; consulting to organizations of every size and in every industry; speaking before hundreds of audiences; working closely with entrepreneurs from Mumbai to Silicon Valley; and, in 2010, starting their own fully accredited online MBA program, which now has approximately 1,000 students enrolled. Over the same timeframe, Jack has advised more than 75 companies through private equity and dozens more in a senior advisory role at IAC. Now Jack and Suzy Welch draw on their experiences to address the biggest problems facing modern management - and offer pragmatic solutions to overcome them.

Going beyond theories, concepts, and ideologies, they tackle the real stuff of work today. When you get down to it, they argue, winning in business is all about mastering the gritty, inescapable, make-or-break, real-life dilemmas that define the new economy, the old economy, and everything in between. Work is a grind. We just got whacked. My boss is driving me nuts. I'm stuck in career purgatory. My team has lost its mojo. IT is holding us hostage. Our strategy is outdated the day we launch it. We don't know what our Chinese partners are talking about. We're just not growing. These are some of the day-to-day issues the Welches take on. Coupled with Jack's years of iconic leadership and Suzy's insights as former editor of the Harvard Business Review, their new database of knowledge infuses The Real-Life MBA with fresh, relevant stories and equally powerful solutions that every manager at any level can use right now.

Selling yourself the welch way

Overall the book is a promotion of today's keep up with the trends tome with several seeming product specific comments (dare I say commercials) in the first half of the book. It would make ok copy for distribution at one of their speaking engagements.

Excellent book for those who want to grow and grow in business!

This is an excellent audiobook that is well-rounded about a lot of the intricacies of been business. Jack Welch and His wife did an excellent job explaining to Business professionals many of their lifelong experiences about how to handle motivation, growth, international expansion, human resources, hiring and firing, career movements, getting let go, and even retiring and starting all over again. This has been the most complete MBA book I have ever read and listen to. It was a great experience.

Well written and well narrated

At the risk of sounding like a "boss hater"; I wish my previous managers would have read this. The pearls of wisdom found in this book are very edifying and I hope to examine them each time I plan to take a reinventing step in my life.

Some great tidbits

There are some great tidbits of advice and reinforcement of already existing advice. But for the most part a nice review of great life and business tips.

You want to excel in team building and company development... this is the book.

This book was so informational about how to build an all star team and keep the momentum going. It hits issues from start ups to Scandals to how to let go of employees the right way. The narrator is better than average. Not too dull but not too exciting. But the content on this book is so good, it compensated. This book is for anyone who is: in a management position, starting a company, or just about anyone who plans to run a group of people someday for any reason. I liked the examples they give to put prospective on ideas they give. Will be listening again to catch any important info I missed the first time around.
