Publisher's Summary

In 2013, Johnny B. Truant and Sean Platt published 1.5 million words and made their full-time livings as indie authors. In Write. Publish. Repeat., they tell you how exactly how they did it: How they created over 15 independent franchises across 50+ published works, how they turned their art into a logical, sustainable business, and how any independent author can do the same to build a sustainable, profitable career with their writing. Write. Publish. Repeat. explains the current self-publishing landscape and covers the truths and myths about what it means to be an indie author now and in the foreseeable future. It explains how to create books your readers will love and will want to return to again and again. Write. Publish. Repeat. details expert methods for building story worlds, characters, and plots, understanding your market (right down to your ideal reader), using the best tools possible to capture your draft, and explains proven best practices for editing. The audiobook also discusses covers, titles, formatting, pricing, and publishing to multiple platforms, plus a bit on getting your books into print (and why that might not be a good idea!). But most importantly, Write. Publish. Repeat. details the psychology-driven marketing plan that Sean and Johnny built to shape their stories into "products" that readers couldn't help but be drawn into - thus almost automatically generating sales - and explores ways that smart, business-minded writers can do the same to future-proof their careers. This audiobook is not a formula with an easy path to follow. It is a guidebook that will help you build a successful indie publishing career, no matter what type of writer you long as you're the type who's willing to do the work.

The One Book All Self Published Authors Must Read!

Would you listen to Write. Publish. Repeat. again? Why?

Yes. This book is the needed third book all writer must read. I put it up there with "On Writing" and "The Elements of Style" as absolute must reads.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love the whole book but my favorite bits were when Dave interjected his thoughts.

What about Simon Whistler’s performance did you like?

It was amazing! I would listen to this man read the stock ticker to me.

What did you learn from Write. Publish. Repeat. that you would use in your daily life?

I've been a fan of the Self Publishing Podcast almost since the beginning. It was because of these men that I was able to truly take control of my publishing career and kick it in the balls. This book is the perfect distillation of the tips, tricks, and awesome bits of advice Sean, Johnny, and Dave have been giving us for 2 years.

Any additional comments?

If you are a writer read this book!

The #1 Book for new writers looking for Advice

I have to say this book was everything they said it was. I have read dozens of writing books and this one really delivered value. I market companies for a living and the authors "get" what you need to do. They come across as really in-tune with the real world and deliver a no hype, no bs assessment of direction you can go. They deliver in every chapter and are really quite funny.

I was also pleased with the examples they used. In the past 3 years I have listened to about 5 books they mentioned. It was nice to hear their comments. The guys are funny and have a "home style" sense of humour.

I have no criticisms, just one comment. The first 10-15 pages confused me at first but then you get on an exciting roller coaster ride where you don't want to get off. You need to read this book front to back.

Its pleasantly surprising to finish a chapter in a non-fiction book and be salivating and wanting to read on as quickly as possible. They definitely have a gift in communicating.

Lastly, this is not a one "read" book. I plan to go back and make notes and study this piece of work in detail. Bravo guys, you nailed it and it shows!

Listen to it and buy the book

I have already listened to it twice, because there is a lot of good advice for the long-term in it. Sure, there are repetitions but some stuff just needs heard a couple of times.

They tell you early on if the book is going to appeal to you and if you're looking for a magic formula for overnight success, or how to write a book, keep looking.

This book helps you plan for the long term as an independent author/publisher and is the dose of reality writers need to hear. It really made me stop and think about what and why I was writing.

Must listen/read for all indie authors

If you're an indie author and you haven't heard of these guys, you're doing it wrong. Not only do Johnny, Sean and David talk the talk, they walk the walk. This book is full or quality, proven practical advice, it's written in a genuine and non-patronising way and it's narrated well by Simon Whistler, who's accent poshifies the SPP experience (reference: the pronunciation of the word 'version').
Seriously, if you're an indie author and you actually want to sell books - listen to this.
