The narrator comes off uppity as if speaking to children. She also uses accents that could be insulting to a number of nationalities. This is not a story book.
The book panders to a female audience when it should be gender neutral.
The book does not offer enough situational examples to support its arguments. It comes off rushed and mechanical. The writer seems to be more academic and has difficulty relating to real world situations. This is not to say that the ideas are wrong. The author just did a bad job communicating the ideas.
I recommend two other books instead of this. Leaders Eat Last and Work Rules.

Great story but it is not clear what to do next... I agree motivation is not something managers should provide but instead, they are accountable to create the environment where employees can develop themselves and therefore perform at their best...
