Publisher's summary

Everyone knows that timing is everything. But we don't know much about timing itself. Our lives are a never-ending stream of 'when' decisions: when to start a business, schedule a class, get serious about a person. Yet we make those decisions based on intuition and guesswork. Timing, it's often assumed, is an art; in When, Pink shows that timing is, in fact, a science.

Drawing on a rich trove of research from psychology, biology and economics, Pink reveals how best to live, work and succeed. How can we use the hidden patterns of the day to build the ideal schedule? Why do certain breaks dramatically improve student test scores? How can we turn a stumbling beginning into a fresh start? Why should we avoid going to the hospital in the afternoon? Why is singing in time with other people as good for us as exercise? And what is the ideal time to quit a job, switch careers or get married? In When, Pink distils cutting-edge research and data on timing and synthesizes them into a fascinating narrative packed with irresistible stories and practical takeaways that give listeners compelling insights into how we can live richer, more engaged lives.

Starts fine but tapers off towards the end

The book starts interesting and has some good data on the importance of time and also has information on evaluating yourself and learning about oneself.

However as we progress the specificity tapers off and almost everything and anything becomes important and worth considering. This sorta defeats the purpose

Vivir una vida significativa contempla integrar nuestras perspectivas del tiempo en un todo coherente.

Me gusta la manera en la que se resalta la importancia de preguntarse cuándo respecto del qué o el cómo.

Wonderful insights about time

The book talks about the importance of poignant ending. This book ends with the statement “everything is timing” which is different from the worldly commonsensical saying we often hear: “timing is everything.”

Loved the practicality shared as stories in the book. Being from India, loved the coverage of dabbawalas excellent service. Less or no preachings, no frameworks to excel, just simple understanding and actions that are easy enough to apply and get a profound impact on our lives.

Highly recommend this audio book.

Fascinating insight into time

I learned so much! Timing, body clock, behaviour, social interactions - everything is linked. I loved the science and the handbook. my meta critique would be whether we all have to function optionally all the time? is it not also ok to experience a slump in productivity?
