Mostly advertisement

This books is mostly advertisement for other products the author offers (most cost several hundred dollars and some are not available anyway)
Even though i would not recommend this books at all, it does have some positive things (hence the reason i gave it 2 stars).
The book is written as several testimonials about how good Dr. Tharp's workshops are
The book is divided into 3 parts the first part Dr. Tharp emphasizes the importance of position sizing and says that one should have different systems for each different market (Bull, Bear, Etc).
unfortunately that's all the trading advice you'll get from the book after that the book becomes a self help, spiritual guide. Where Dr. Tharp students testify that trading in peace and accepting what the market does without the need to be right will make you happy.
I am sure that the 2nd and 3rd part (about physiology and spiritual awakening) will help some people...
But, as far as trading is concerned, the book and this review are equally helpful. The book might be a little deeper, but since the way that book is written is so convoluted even if you would like to go back and read again some part (that you found helpful) you actually need to read a whole chapter about how much good you will get from paying Dr. Tharp a few hundred dollars.

Missed the target

What disappointed you about Trading Beyond the Matrix?

I was hoping to hear a book on investor psychology and got 11 hours of babbling. More of a sales pitch for trading programs than a helpful book.

What could Van Tharp have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not written a book.

Any additional comments?

Where is the pill?

Any additional comments?

"The juice" is less than 10%. The rest of the book is about other people's experiences.

Think in a different way.

Half the books is about God. I hope that does not put any potential listeners off, like it would have me. But wow!, another top trading book that must be listened to.

Too much religious mumbo jumbo

I've loved Van Tharp's technical work on trading, but you don't get much of it in this book.

This book started to lose me after it started talking about miracles. I stopped completely around 2/3 of the way through after I was told that I have a low level of consciousness because I'm an atheist.

Van Tharp seems to advocate that believing in something higher will improve your trading, even if that something you believe in is actual not true. I can understand that people who truly believe in god get great psychological benefits from doing so, but that doesn't mean I want to change my beliefs to something I have always believed to be false simply because Van Tharp believes it will make me a better trader.

I really wish Van Tharp could offer a book on improving oneself without having to resort to religious beliefs.

After reading a few books by Van Tharp I can also say that they are sounding more and more like an infomercial for his courses.

If you are after a good Van Tharp book read 'Trading your way to financial freedom' and leave it that.

Deep and esoteric but possibly life changing

Get ready for some pretty esoteric stuff but at its core this book is about self development and improvement that will affect ones consciousness during trading and for life in general.
