Toward that end, the book covers the seven facts of business life that every successful business owner knows, including: "If You Don't Lead, No One Will Follow", "If You Don’t Control It, You Don't Own It", "Protecting Your Company's Assets Should Be Your First Priority", "Planning Is About Preparing for the Future, Not Predicting It", "If You Don't Market Your Business, You Won't Have One", "The Marketplace Is a War Zone", and "You Don't Just Have to Know the Business You're In, You Have to Know Business". Devoting one chapter to each fact, the book explains what it is, what it means, and, most important, how it can help entrepreneurs achieve success and stay away from potentially harmful mistakes.
Equally important, each chapter enables readers to not only understand the facts on their own, but also in terms of how they impact on a business as it passes through each of the five levels of every successful company's existence: "Ownership and Opportunity", "Creating Your Company's DNA", "From Survival to Success", "Maintaining Success", and "Moving On When It's Time to Go".
Written by a successful businessman with four decades of ownership experience, and packed with valuable advice, The Facts of Business Life presents every business owner - whether he or she is starting, building, maintaining, or exiting a business - with the key facts that, applied together, can ensure a strong and lasting enterprise.

A book with impact
Would you consider the audio edition of The Facts of Business Life to be better than the print version?
I have both. Both one for the car and one for the office.
Who was your favorite character and why?
All the "facts' and 'levels' zero in on business ownership basics
Any additional comments?
A must read for any business owner, or those who may want to be. It's easy to see why the press has been active in writing about and reviewing this book.

Repetition may be defeating purpose
What did you love best about The Facts of Business Life?
The concepts and principles are generally clear and well thought out.
Would you recommend The Facts of Business Life to your friends? Why or why not?
Worth listening if you are either thinking of going into business for yourself or if you are struggling with making your business profitable.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Brett Barry?
Probably would listen to more of Brett's work but I'd recommend hiring a new editor.
Any additional comments?
I know that repetition is key to learning but when it's done in the way it has in this book, it makes you wonder if you've not already listened to that section of the book. If it wasn't for my want and will to be a good student of the core content, I'd probably never finished listening to it out of shear confusion. I kept asking myself, "didn't I just hear this chapter?" I think this may just be a matter of poor editing or poor executive writing skills (or maybe a writing coach?). Ok, repeat yourself but don't make your audience feel like you're a preverbal broken record.
Still, all this said, if you can get past all that, the content is well founded, well thought out and a great wake up call to anyone thinking of starting a business, wanting to grow their business or suffering from all the normal roadblocks in making changes and improvements.
