Beginners guide...annoying narrative

I wouldn't say this book was a waste of time, nor was it particularly inspired. Covers most of the basic ground rules and advice all sales books cover, without really giving anything new. The Sales Dogs angle was interesting, if you can get past the fact that every possible attribute is given the doggy makeover, which can become tedious.

For someone new to sales, it will be a good foundational book. For those more experienced in the field you might find yourself wanting.

As a point to the author - never self-narrate, stick to what you're good at, which is writing.

It got me to try Audible at least

This book was assigned to me to read by my boss. I bought it and tried to read it but just couldn't. It's a typical sales book regurgitating the same message as 1,000 others with the difference being the dog analogy. The dog analogy however while cute in the first couple chapters became monotonous and tiresome by the end of the book. As someone in management and sales for 15 years, I didn't find any of the "breeds" to be indicative of any one person. All of the breeds are elements in each of us. The style of writing by this author comes across very cheesy used car salesmen but familiar in technology sales decades ago. The world has changed and this book is certainly outdated. Audible, however, has this book to thank for getting me on board so that instead of wasting precious time reading I could just let the author yap on and on while I drove around in my territory to finish the book as quickly as possible.
