The Next 20 Years Will Be Completely Different From the Past

Current global trends are bleak: weak economic growth, too much debt, declining incomes for the lower 99 percent, a dangerous addiction to fossil fuels, and ecological destruction - just to name a few. Many of us understandably feel resigned to an eroding standard of living in the years to come. At best.

But what if we told you that there are specific attainable steps you can take today that can limit your vulnerability to these trends and help you:

  • Be richer
  • Be healthier
  • Be happier
  • Live with greater purpose
  • Be more valued by others
  • Be safer from harm

That's exactly what Prosperity! offers: a blueprint for taking control of and improving your destiny. It outlines practical, actionable investments of your time and resources that will ensure you enjoy greater prosperity in your life, whatever the future may bring.

In Prosperity!, Martenson and Taggart will explain:

  • The trends most likely to shape your life over the next 20 years
  • Why developing resilience offers your best chance for thriving, even though society may suffer from the changes these trends may bring
  • How to build true wealth
  • What specific actions to take now to secure a prosperous future, no matter what the future holds
  • How everybody can benefit from this guidance, regardless of age, income, or ability
  • How we can best serve the next generation with the actions we take today

Prosperity! is the highly anticipated follow-up to Martenson's acclaimed book The Crash Course.

A balanced look at prepping without the Fear Porn

This book is a balanced look at prepping without the authors overdoing the Fear Porn. No repeating references financial armageddon, no dwelling on religious apocalyptic scenarios. Just some practical tips on how to build (and join) your community, remain self-sustaining, prosperous and live a fuller life in uncertain times where global resources are likely to become less available than they are today.

A book for affluent preppers

Any additional comments?

Overall it is a decent book with exceptional narration for an author, but I was nevertheless a little disappointed. The material does not go into specific homesteading skills but instead directs one toward lifestyle changes and a different way of thinking, which are just as important as skill sets and really are the first steps one should take in moving towards a sustainable life. However, the book was unfortunately biased towards an affluent audience, it being the only sustainability type of book I've come across that discusses a therapist and a life coach....seriously?! I may be overreacting, but the testimonials made me want to gag! The letters sounded edited (maybe they weren't), but what galled me was all but one or two of the testimonials were from those who obviously had abundant financial resources to set up elaborate...and expensive...homesteads, giving this whole section of the book an exclusive air that left me a bit depressed. Having grown up poor on the classic small family farm in the midwest (father a farmer, mother a school teacher) where we modestly lived and breathed nearly all the points mentioned in this book, the testimonials just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Fresh prespective

I'd recommend Crash Course first, to set the context. This was fairly heavily focused on establishing a homestead-style life, although by no means exclusively. There is also a strong coaching framework theme running throughout..and it maybe a little light on statistics, but all in all a very useful resource in preparing for future societal and economic turbulence.

Live like you want to make a difference.

Where does Prosper! rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have read several books pertaining this subject matter. Very few of them are as filled with information that can aid you in preparing for and navigating through the changes that may lie ahead. I hope to never be surprised by things I did not have an opportunity to prepare for. This book helps you make preparations for the best possible outcomes regardless of what happens. I am on my second time through the book and still gleaning additional insights. Repetition is how we learn.

What did you like best about this story?

Prosper! forecasts a potential for a problematic future but does not dwell on it. It offers solid ideas on how you can build for a great future regardless of how the future presents itself.

What does Chris Martenson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Genuine caring for giving you useful tools to build with.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Either their own or mine.
"The next 20 years won't be anything like the last 20 years." or
"Live like you want to make a difference."

Any additional comments?

A great cerebral investment. I think the payback will be exponential though things exponential are not shown in the most positive light in the book, I think exponential payback is a good thing. In fact it may be a way to Prosper!

Just get Crash Course

This title is also exactly the same as the new version of Crash Course. Some of the passages are exactly the same, word for word. This one covers essentially the same material as the new book, just without the current events updates. So, skip this one and just get the current Crash Course version.
