Publisher's summary

Do you want to get ahead in life? Climb the ladder to personal success? The secret, master networker Keith Ferrazzi claims, is in reaching out to other people. As Ferrazzi discovered in early life, what distinguishes highly successful people from everyone else is the way they use the power of relationships - so that everyone wins.

In Never Eat Alone, Ferrazzi lays out the specific steps - and inner mindset - he uses to reach out to connect with the thousands of colleagues, friends, and associates on his contacts list, people he has helped and who have helped him. And in the time since Never Eat Alone was published in 2005, the rise of social media and new, collaborative management styles have only made Ferrazzi’s advice more essential for anyone hoping to get ahead in business.

How to be genuine at being fake.

The author of this book is undoubtedly successful. He writes that he gained this success in part by his ability to connect and network with people.

He basically details a system on how to approach, connect, speak, and socialize with certain people.

However, to me, the approach comes across as disingenuous. Though he makes several statements backing his approach by saying that it is ok because you are doing this genuinely. But I just don’t see how that is possible.

If you have a hard time connecting with people or socializing and are the type of person that needs to follow rules to accomplish that behavior, then this would be the book for you.

However, I personally would never consciously apply the principles in this book because they would only get in the way of me being me. They would also certainly change who I am and how and why I talk to people.

For me, I would rather by myself than work hard at being a master socialized and networker. If being personable comes easy to you, I think you would have very little to learn from the book. If communicating with people is difficult for you, this book provides a frame workout on how to connect with people. Though my bet would people would know your approach wasn’t at all sincere, even though the author claims that it is sincere if you just tell yourself it is.

Helpful but too long

I really enjoyed the first half of the book, but towards the end, I dreaded every time I listened. Really helpful information, but this is one of those books that you may be better served reading an outline. There is a lot of information here and you might want to take notes; this book could have had the same impact and half the length.

Great content but needs to be re-recorded

I have both the Kindle and Audible version of this book. I know it has been updated on Audible because it is in two or three different voices. If the got the same talent to do the abridged or updated parts, his voice changed over the years. This is distracting and happens mid-sentence sometimes making the book sound like a patchwork.

The content saves it. Networking seemed scummy to me. I didn't like having it done to me nor did I like to think I was doing it. I'm over that.

The information in this book will help you improve networking skills in any Western oriented country. I'm from the USA but living in the Philippines and I'm using it to up my game at Christmas parties this year.

Many of the things the author mentions will be things you already do. Reading will help you separate your positive from negative traits and get ahead in life.

It's all about relationships

This book applies to almost anything that someone would want to do that involves other people. It is so clear that it's not about manipulating people are getting what you want from them it's about building real genuine relationships. It's about having a vision for the fruitfulness of people to people and relationships that's bigger than just what you can get. It is about doing life together. Bradley Williams. Great fresh look at business practices

This is a refreshing book and its full of lessons that work just as well in everyday life as it does in a business setting
My one recommendation for listeners, if you are short on time, the reading is slow. Effective but slow. I was easily able to keep up with it at 2x speed
