Publisher's summary

Do you want to know the 40 real questions that job interviewers have in their minds? I know what you are thinking. How can anyone read another person's mind? Well, the secret hides in the reality that there are only four kinds of interviewers.

Imagine that you will make it easy for job interviewers to like you. Do you know that, if you can speak respectfully to just four personality types, you hold in your hand the key to have a powerful persuasive edge over most people? So are you curious about the four types? They are the Careful, Expert, Impulsive, and Idealist.

You've already been to interviews, right? Do you worry you are not hired because you are not "the right fit"? Are you wondering if interviewers might not like you because of your personality? WAKE UP! Most of the time, hiring decisions really are based on "the best fit." And, yes, your personality matters. Your personality can work for you and against you – and you don't even realize it. Job Interviewers: Get Inside Their Heads clearly exposes the plusses and minuses of your own personality, as well as the personalities of your interviewers. You will learn to confidently interface your personal system of values and strengths with those of your interviewers. You will reach out them clearly. And they will feel that you "somehow" think exactly like they do. You now have the option to walk into a room full of interviewers with confidence and your own personal power.

Clear, concise book.

"Job Interviewers" by Jack Dermody is professional and engaging simultaneously. It is full of useful tips and information, presented in a clear manner. I used this book as a reference not only while applying for work, but presenting myself in any social or networking situation, and it has given me confidence in interpreting my own and other people's methods of interaction. At first I found the main narrative voice to be too deliberate, but then as I listened to the book on my way to my first set of job interviews, I discovered the voice was perfect for imparting information in a calm manner that helped embed the material in my brain.

Even though the title is job-related, I would also recommend "Job Interviewers" for anyone who wants to understand the systems behind human interaction and communication.

Well written, contains a plethora of information.

What made the experience of listening to Job Interviewers the most enjoyable?

Dermody wrote this book based on his Four Windows system of personality types. If you are interviewing for your first decent job, I recommend learning what Dermody is offering. Not only will it help you get the job, but it will help you understand your boss and, more important, how to advance within the company by understanding the people you work with.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Job Interviewers?

Now, full disclosure. The author is a friend who invited me to review the audio version of his book, but I am not giving him a free pass. Early in the listening process I discovered I am an Expert, one of the four personality types in Dermody’s system. An Expert, among other traits, is one who wants to know what’s in it for him and hopes he or she doesn’t have to deal with a lot of information he or she is not interested in. So, from my perspective, I prefer a condensed version of this book. But, that’s me and my Expert personality. Others may devour every morsel of data.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The audio book has three narrators. The principal narrator is a professional with a mature voice who speaks clearly and distinctly. However, since it is my opinion that listeners seeking their first important job would benefit most from this book, if I were the book’s producer, I would have chosen a different voice to help the listener relate to the material.
