Says what it does and does what it says!

This book will teach you how to be a tour guide. I really feel equipped and prepared to start the journey towards becoming a tour guide. This book covers every aspect I could think of with reference to managing a tour. I have no plans to become a tour guide at present, but I know what I would be getting in to and what it would take.

The narration was great and production quality is first class.

If you are interested in the subject, this is the audiobook for you!

A Must Read for the Aspiring Travel Guide

Excellent book. I would highly recommend this to any aspiring travel guide or current industry professional. there was so much good information in here from how to get started in the industry to things to think about when starting your own buisness. the book included stories from travel guides to relate to different subject matter and gave a realistic outlook on this position. Would be a great tool for anyone considering whether or not to join this profession.

Simple, Relevant, Practical

Nick Manning’s approach to being a tour guide is sensible and applicable. I am certain his instructions and suggestions would sharpen the skills of the most seasoned tour guide. The guidance is sound and easy to comprehend. I am now much more aware of the immense responsibility of and have increased respect for tour guides. Best of all, he makes being a tour guide sound like a really fun way to immerse in any community whether at home or elsewhere.

I chose this audio book because I am strongly considering being a tour guide as a part of my upcoming world tour experience. I love history and enjoy moving around the United States and abroad. HTBATG is so complete and thorough, I do not feel a need to search for other instructions (other than those provided by any respective employer).

Using Manning’s techniques, I plan to practice being a tour guide in my current locale—and then spread my wings and fly with it!

Manning’s narration is fluid and natural. He is articulate, and also personable, leaving the listener with the feeling of having partaken in an engaging conversation.

A Great Guide on Being a Guide

If you have any interest at all in being a tour guide, this is a great book to check out. The touring business is a field that I have considered entering (and done some preplanning for) for several years. As such, I have spent time in thought about aspects that are covered in this book. However, Nick does a good job going over the more basic points in such a way that he still keeps it interesting and occasionally gives you additional insights that you may not have considered. Some elements of guiding that he goes over, I hadn't even bothered to give any thought. He gives a lot of practical advice on this profession. He clearly knows the "lay of the land" when it comes to being a guide. He also included many personal experiences that he or others have had to deal with out in the field. These alone make the book worthwhile. I also thought the narration was very well done.
I received this book in exchange for an honest an unbiased review. As can be seen, not many of my "free book reviews" attain a score of 5-stars across the board.

Very informative book

Nick Manning highlights all the basic knowledge you need if you want to work as a tour leader. It is great for people who want to start on the industry, but may also be of great help for those who have been working on it for a while.

It is also interesting and well organized. Nicely narrated. I would recommend it to anyone interested in tour guiding or tour managing.
