Refreshing

Any additional comments?

I read this to enjoy and appreciate Richard's values and way of life. As such, it delivers. It's similar to the other book I also liked: Screw it. Let's do it.

Excellent

This audio book is outstanding, up until the point where Richard starts going into outdated Global Warming theories, where he has clearly had too much influence from Al Gore and Gordon Brown.

I love the environment, but ClimateGate and also outside data have given us real cause to doubt the data Richard relies on. New research shows greenhouse gases are NOT trapped by the upper atmosphere at all, but escape into space, and that we may be heading into a natural period of global cooling. Furthermore, the whole carbon credits scheme appears to be politically and financially motivated (tens of trillions of dollars are at stake for a few people and companies, including several that Gore is on the board of), and will do great harm to poor, less developed countries, for example. The environment is important, but we have threats more real than global warming, like the depletion of ocean life. If it actually is a threat, there are cheaper ways to deal with it, such as those discussed in the bestselling book (and audiobook!) SuperFreakonomics by Steven J. Dubner.

Would like to see more audiobooks by Richard Branson brought to Audible! (Also maybe the unabridged version of this book?)

Quick and easy inspiration

Good to know that you dont have to be a selfish prick to do business but that making money, making a life and making a difference goes hand in hand.

Interesting Listen

Probably not the most actionable book you'll ever read, but still very interesting and entertaining.

Profound insight and unique perspective revealed.

Once again, sir Richard, delivers sound advice and profound insight into his visionary entrepreneurial leadership and management methods. This book offers a concise, no-nonsense review of what, to his belief, constitute critical components of Virgin's highly successful and dynamic, global business and brand, strategic and tactical leadership and management formulae. Sir Richard underpins the importance of his Virgin team in terms of their unique working environment and the type of person employed there; the result is a top down inspired Virgin community and culture that nurtures and empowers Virgin types and values. Real-life experiences, both successes and mistakes illustrate in Aesop-like fashion the value of experience; learning quickly from mistakes is deemed an investment, not a cost, and thus frames a refreshing and healthy attitude to risk taking, which appears a cornerstone of Virgin's culture, a defining trait of Virgin character, perpetuating a Virgin can-do attitude. Virgin cultivates mobile, globally aware, positively optimistic, inspired, can do, business teams whom thrive and endeavor to continually innovate and lead as a norm of cultural practice in a volatile business world and environment where rapid change is only one of a very few other certainties!

This justifiably deserves my two thumbs up! (5/5 stars).
What it first seems will become an awkward, rushed home narrative, surprisingly vanishes and the style, instead, adds authenticity and a genuine feel to this pioneer's legacy. Branson's real to life depiction of Virgin's global business journey is perfectly suited to audio book format.
(My decision to burn CD's for the drive around town, ended with my sitting in the car in the car park at my first destination, astute and entrapped until the end).
Furthermore, the narrative continues to refresh, motivate and inspire the more it is listened to. I'm confident and hope it will reach out and have a similar affect on you!

awesome listen, wish it was unabridged

This one's a great listen, narrated by the man himself. My only complaint was that it ended too early because it isn't unabridged.
