Publisher's summary

In 1991, flight attendant Nancy Ludwig checked in to an airport hotel near Detroit. The next morning she was found gagged, raped, and tortured - her throat slit with such rage that she was nearly decapitated. Her husband Arthur never gave up hope that the future would bring enough evidence to close the case. But it was the past that held the clue.

In 1985, 55-year-old Margarette Eby, a music professor, met the same grisly death at her cottage in Flint, Michigan. The case went cold - until six years later when the victim's son Mark came upon the story of Nancy Ludwig's slaying. With nothing to go on but intuition, he called authorities, certain that the same fiend committed both crimes.

A cunning sting operation yielded irrefutable DNA evidence, and authorities were led to the home of respected navy veteran Jeffrey Gorton living quietly with his wife and two children. But his cold-blooded secrets were only beginning to come to light, leaving fears that there were more victims yet to be found in a killing spree that had finally come to an end. Blood Justice shows veteran reporter and author Tom Henderson at the top of his game.

Boring

What would have made Blood Justice better?

The writer talks to much about everyone else rather than the killer and the victims, you get lost and can't follow. jumps around to much to confusing.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

narrator was fine.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Blood Justice?

take out the long descriptions of everyone but the main characters.

Wow !!! Nothing left out

This is by far the most detailing crime book that I have ever read. The writer’s research and explanation of these cases is outstanding and the best I have ever read/heard. A must listen for crime lovers and an excellent presentation of a horrible case.

Not for me

Slow, boring book that just doesn't go anywhere. Jumps around too much with too much emphasis on lengthy bios.

Sad...

Really good book here. Henderson does a fabulous job with a complicated case. Feeding you information, introducing you to characters, and telling the tale at a perfect pace so you never feel lost. He does a great job of covering the entire scope too...right up to the epilogue where he gives you the run-down of where the players are all at today. Intriguing story told by the perfect narrator. Mr. Garcia was exactly what a book like this needed. He was so good that I actually looked into other books he’s narrated.....it’s not often I do this with a narrator. He was that clear, we’ll-paced, and professional. All-in-all I’d say if you’re so close to purchasing this book that it’s brought you here, to my review, then do it. Lol. It’ll be worth your credit! Very interesting, well-told, and ultimately sad story. Kept my attention from start to finish.

nonfiction or opinion?

the author confuses genres. mixes awesome written story with unexpected, infrequent, irritating mix in of strong personal opinion. Otherwise FANTASTIC writing and storytelling.

Sad story........mediocre book

I bought this book because one of the victims, in the book, Nancy Ludwig, was a co-worker of mine when she was murdered. It was difficult to listen to because of the awful content about her killing but even more so because the book was so hard to follow. It had too many mundane details that had nothing to really add to the story. It’s almost like the author was just adding things to make the book longer with no discernible value.

The narrator mispronounced Nancy’s last name many times throughout the book which was downright annoying. It’s details like this that make or break an audible book.

The author jumped around so much it was hard to keep track of what year or character he was talking about.

He also repeated himself word for word several times during the book making me wonder if I had mistakenly backtracked to a previous chapter.

If it hadn’t been for the fact that it was a true story that I was familiar with, but didn’t know all the details, I would have stopped listening half way through and requested a refund.

Adequate

The storyline was interesting, especially in the first 2/3rds but it hit a wall after that with too much unnecessary details on side issues.

Good story...tons of unnecessary info.

The story was good. However , I feel that the author went too deep, into the investigators' background's. I found all that information on the investigators' boring, as it added nothing to the story.

Good Book, Great Narration

"Blood Justice" is a gripping story. Learning the specifics of the case was fascinating. However, some of the extraneous details
could have been omitted. Mr. Garcia's narration and use of inflections when reading dialogue was great!

.

Story was good, in-depth but for some reason that I can't fathom is why all the writers want to go on and on and on with irrelevant information that really does nothing more than make someone yawn. I don't want to hear a full two chapters on the goings-on or their whole life story if they are not a key player in the story!! arghhhh
