Publisher's summary

Award-winning actress Drew Barrymore shares funny, insightful, and profound stories from her past and present told from the place of happiness she's achieved today.

Wildflower is a portrait of Drew's life in stories as she looks back on the adventures, challenges, and incredible experiences of her earlier years. It includes tales of living on her own at 14 (and how laundry may have saved her life), getting stuck in a gas station overhang on a cross-country road trip, saying good-bye to her father in a way only he could have understood, and many more adventures and lessons that have led her to the successful, happy, and healthy place she is today. It is the first book Drew has written about her life since the age of 14.

Omg the shrieking

Love Drew. Loved the story. The shrieking was unnerving... Why did the producer let her do this?!? It ruined the audiobook. :(

I enjoyed this more than I should have;-)

I always try to wait for a little while to write a review for a book after I have finished it. I like to make sure emotions, good or bad, are not involved. I have to honestly say that this one surprised me. I have always, for the most part, enjoyed Drew's work. So, on a whim I listened to the excerpt given as a sample and I actually laughed out loud. I have to say I really enjoyed this book. Her irony, wryness, and true wit made me laugh and cry a little. I have to admit that the out of sequence events story telling was a bit distracting, but eh not enough, not to keep me glued to it. I have read where a few folks didn't like her "screaming" and I was a little startled at first, but this IS her personality. She goes ALL out to tell the story and I really believe this is how she is in real life. She tells the story as if you were her friend and she was telling you what just happened. My favorite was the one about her, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu wilderness training, and learning to jump out of a plane for Charlie's Angles...so funny. This isn't a memoir, just a wonderfully great example of how our lives are made up of hundreds of little stories.

Outstanding book!

A delightfully happy book that I loved from the preface to the end!
Drew herself reads it and obviously she does an amazing job.
The stories she chooses to tell make you feeling happy and introspective as well as gain a new respect and appreciation for who Drew was and has become.

Beautifully written and narrated, I highly recommend this book.

I’m sorry, but I like her less now.

I appreciated her acting out the story (while reading) but that sometimes meant she was full on screaming, which really sucked when I was in the car. My children each said, “she sounds really entitled” “why is she describing people like that? She sounds so judgmental” and “Mom, all she does is brag about herself.” I kind of really agree with all this. Even when she would tell a story where she faced adversity, she always brought it around to her and talked herself up ALOT. She described these adversarial situations and acted like life was so hard, but she is so privileged that it’s almost laughable. What I really wanted to hear about was her doing lines in the bathroom of Studio 54 as a 11 year old and how she was able to overcome the hardships in her adolescent years, but she didn’t focus on that stuff. She just basically tells stories she thinks makes her look like an enchanted wild funny woman, but it kind of does the opposite.

Love drew Barrymore!

I'm so glad drew narrated this it was so much more emotional and I felt so much more connected to her and the story. So many people are complaining that she screams to much but I don't mind it and I think it brings that crazy emotion out. Just don't listen to this and try and go to sleep. A great book for sure!

reading was so over dramatic

The stories were interesting but the yelling and dramatic reading was so annoying. it would have been great if you just talked like you were having a conversation with a friend and telling them about your life.
