Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of We Need to Talk About... Kevin Bridges. Aged 17, Kevin Bridges walked on stage for the first time and brought the house down. He only had a five-minute set but he discovered he really could earn a living from making people laugh.
Kevin began life as a shy, nerve-ridden school-boy. Reaching his teens, he followed his true calling as the class clown. This was a guy going somewhere - off the rails seeming most likely. Kevin's trademark social commentary, sharp one-liners, and laugh-out-loud humour blend with his reflections on his Glaswegian childhood and the journey he's taken to become one of the most-loved comedians of our time.

Love Kevin Bridges material

As a home sick Glasgow girl born the same year as Kevin I'm addicted to his nostalgia inducing sets. Always puts me in a great mood and helps me hold on to what's left of my accent :) Loved hearing his story and of the hard work and dedication he puts into his craft. Looking forward to future performances.

New standard for comedians biography.

Would you listen to We Need to Talk About Kevin Bridges again? Why?

I've already listened twice, it's compelling.

What other book might you compare We Need to Talk About Kevin Bridges to, and why?

Naturally you compare it to the vast array of comedy biographies.

Which character – as performed by Kevin Bridges – was your favourite?

Pop tounge in in lower gum and make awughh noise.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed out loads, I laughed like I may have done listening to billy Connolly tapes as a kid. I cried a little, Kevin's family, particularly his brother just comes across as the brother every kid needed. There's even a little participation which given the right mood will have you screaming out loud.

Any additional comments?

Like Kevin, frank Skinners biog was the first I read. I understand why he found it motivating. There have been many other good solid comedy biographies since. The common fault is to spend too much time telling a dull sob story about early years with not enough consideration given to how they achieved their goals. At NO point was I tempted to skip Kevin's early years which is informative, thought provoking and hugely funny. The best part gets around 4 hours of the book, this is when he makes his first stand up appearance during a low period and following inspiration from Frank Skinner. The process is engrossing and superbly described, you will have butterflies and shaking legs as kevin describes waiting to go on for his first gig, this is a work of genius. It perfectly illustrates what a talent this guy is.FULL MARKS.VAGINA(Your go)

Entertaining read, especially on audio read by the man himself. Some real laugh out loud moments. His story of perseverance to make it to the top is really inspiring and the very end of the book was very moving. Highly recommended!

Relatable, funny, honest and inspiring

Born similarly in Clydebank, now an expat, I could easily relate to him, his aspirations, self doubt and his struggles. A very detailed account and pulls you along like a striker recounting a goal from your local and favorite team. Go an yerself
