Publisher's summary

Inspiration. Success. Confidence. Passion. No one is born with these qualities, but they are the key ingredients for reaching goals, building careers, or taking a blueprint and turning it into a breathtaking skyscraper. In The Trump Card, Ivanka Trump recounts the compelling story of her upbringing as the ultimate apprentice, the daughter of Donald and Ivana Trump, and shares the life lessons and hard-won insights that have made her a rising star in the business world.

From her office in the Trump Organization, where she is a vice president of development and acquisitions and co-founder of The Trump Hotel Collection, to her career as an international model, to the launch of her successful jewelry collection, Ivanka offers valuable, practical advice for young women. Whether it's landing that first job, navigating the workplace, or making a lasting impact, Ivanka shows how to:

  • Use uncertainty to your advantage: thrive in any environment
  • Step up and get noticed at work: focus and efficiency will open doors
  • Create a strong and consistent identity: your name and reputation are your best assets
  • Know what you want: get the most out of any negotiation

The Trump Card also features "Bulletins" from Ivanka's BlackBerry that tap into the wisdom of today's leaders, including Arianna Huffington, Tory Burch, and Cathie Black. "We've all been dealt a winning hand," Ivanka writes, "and it is up to each of us to play it right and smart."

    Impressive

I was actually quite impressed with Ivanka's book. She is not the typical rich-girl with a famous last name, a la Paris Hilton, who waits for a trust fund to kick in while she parties. Ivanka actually worked hard for what she has, and learned valueable lessons along the way. I recommend this book to anyone that wants to make a name for themselves in business.

    Surprisingly good.

I am amazed at how good a work ethic all the children of Donald Trump have. That shows in this book. Only reason I gave it four stars is because narrator is not Ivanka Trump.

    Disappointment and waste of money

I was very curious about this book. I love Ivanka's classy style and the fact that she is actually a smart business woman and is different from the rest of the spoiled crowd of the rich elite.
However, this book didn't bring anything new for me and was actually very unpleasant to listen. Ivanka sounded as a very self-centered, "I'm just so good at everything", arrogant type of person.

And the Reader did a perfect job bringing that message through the tone of her voice and intonation which made me want to turn shut this annoying woman and turn off Audible as soon as I'd start listening (just because I had to finish the book as I felt bad wasting money on it).

    Eh

About 6% was interesting and the rest was self-promotion. She came off a bit like "I'm awesome, I've made my own way, and if you're not as awesome as me than you are awful." Basically she is a 27-year old who has done a few things right but it would have been nice if her head wasn't in the clouds for what most people have to overcome to get to where she is.

Good book but not for average Joe.

Ivanka did a good job telling her personal experience. She is honest and informative in her book. At lest it seams like that.
But base on her storybook I did notice her disconnection with average middle class working Americans and enterprisers. Her corporate business working attitude seams unrealistic making smiles for many at my point of view.
Anyway, she is smart, hardworking and good looking person. Anyone will be proud to have person like Ivanka around.

    I am impressed

I didn't know anything about Ivanka other than she was a Trump child, but now I genuinely respect her. I didn't know much about Donald either, but Ivanka's stories brought him down to a "human" level for me. I love how she explained everything, so professionally, even when she recalled childhood events. Samantha's voice was perfect for the narration... Polished and proper.

    Loved it!!

Would you listen to Trump Card again? Why?

Definitely. I've recommended this book multiple times already, and I just finished it. It's very relevant to my life and I gained a lot of valuable information.

What does Samantha Mathis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

More excitement. I enjoy audiobooks much more than reading, because listening to someone is simply more exciting.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

"Hire slowly, fire quickly." I remember texting that to myself after hearing it.

    Good listen

The performer was good. Ivanka had some solid advice up to around the halfway point, but then however, Ivanka Trump should focus on telling her complete story instead of subliminal advertising. The last 35 or so minutes was just Ivanka advertising her jewelry business.

    Worth the listen!

There are times you can tell the book is clearly aimed at women in business but there are plenty of business nuggets that anyone can get something from!
