Publisher's summary

Dancing electronic violinist Lindsey Stirling shares her unconventional journey in an inspiring memoir filled with the energy, persistence, and humor that have helped her successfully pursue a passion outside the box.

A classically trained musician gone rogue, Lindsey Stirling is the epitome of independent, millennial-defined success: After being voted off the set of America's Got Talent, she went on to amass more than 10 million social media fans, record two full-length albums, release multiple hits with billions of YouTube views, and tour sold-out venues across the world.

Lindsey is not afraid to be herself. In fact it's her confidence and individuality that have propelled her into the spotlight. But the road hasn't been easy. After being rejected by talent scouts, by music reps, and eventually on national television, Lindsey forged her own path step by step. Detailing every trial and triumph she has faced until now, Lindsey shares stories of her humble yet charmed childhood, humorous adolescence, life as a struggling musician, personal struggles with anorexia, and finally success as a world-class entertainer. Lindsey's magnetizing story - at once remarkable and universal - is a testimony that there is no singular recipe for success, and despite what people may say, sometimes it's okay to be The Only Pirate at the Party.

Good to read, better heard form writer!

I have the hard copy, but someone recommended I hear her story as narrated by Ms. Stirling... I loved it. You can hear the passion, fun, and the sadness in her voice which gives it a much more personal note! She disguises nothing and is brave enough to not leave anything out! Again good read, exceptional to listen to! Lindsey Stirling, you are more of an inspiration than you know, and more inspirational than Andre Bonachelli! Thank you for being pure in heart and soul... it’s tough, but believe me love your not alone!

Even more of a Lindsey fan!

Lindsey’s theme in her book is being real and true to herself. She is honest about her flaws, mistakes and downfalls while also maintaining a completely humble attitude considering her level of natural talent. I definitely recommend!

Adventures in Growing Up

I think I expected more from this book. Maybe more of a humorous tale, or just adventure. I don't mind serious memoirs though and I'm not saying that's what this is. What I am trying to say is that the book starts out really light hearted and fun and you don't know where you are headed but you clearly want to be aboard for the journey and then somewhere mid way we start to focus on a hodgepodge of life lessons but without the detail. I love Lindsay, I learned a lot about her and her life and how she came to be where she is today, all delivered in nice, enjoyable bite size chunks called chapters.

Amazing!

I think this a wonderful glimpse in to Lindsey's (and to some extent Brooke's) live(s). I loved Lindsey's willingness to tell about the less glamorous parts of Hollywood. If you are a fan or just want to read a good memoir then I would highly recommend this book. I personally have someone in my life who deals with depression and have experienced a bit of it for myself, so the telling of her struggle was very close to my heart. I love you Lindsey and Brooke!

so much fun

Everything about this book was great - story telling, flow, it kept me interested (often for longer than I really had time to listen). Reading it in print it would still be a fantastic book, but listening to it from Lindsey had me laughing out loud more times than I can remember. I have never had this much fun walking to work or laughed so much from the realness of life.

What a light!

I remember watching Lindsey on Americas Got Talent, but hearing her backstory and about her faith, especially in an industry that does not always value modesty and values was refreshing. This was so inspirational, thank you Lindsey for sharing!

Lindsey is awesome!

I loved this book. listening to Lindsey narrate it was even better. This book allowed me to feel closer to Lindsey even though we have never met. It helped me see that even though she is a famous performer, she is still human. I learned so much that I didn't already know. I am so glad that I listened to this. I finished it just in time for her Warmer in the Winter concert tonight! I'm excited!
