Linda Scarpa had the best toys, the nicest clothes, and a close-knit family. Yet her childhood was far from idyllic. Classmates avoided her; boys wouldn't date her. Eventually she learned why: They were afraid of her father.
A made man in the Colombo crime family, Gregory Scarpa, Sr., was a stone-cold killer nicknamed the "Grim Reaper." Unlike most tight-lipped mobsters, Scarpa talked business - and murder - in front of his kids. But to Linda, he was also a loving, devoted father who played video games with her for hours. In riveting detail, she reveals what it was like to grow up in the violent world of the mob and to come to grips with the truth about her father and the devastation he wrought.

Tried to sound like a Brooklyn gal. Was OK until she tried to do a voice for another woman character or a man.
I was very disappointed in this book. The author whined on about her life. How she wasn't accepted because of her father. She didn't seem to mind have all the material things his life of crime provided. But her father was her hero in life. She worked very hard to try and convince the reader what a wonderful family man he was even though she acknowledges he killed over 50 people. Then she feels so bad when contracts AIDS because someone as wonderful as he surly doesn't deserve to suffer. Is she kidding?
