Publisher's summary

Best-selling author of Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight, Alexandra Fuller presents this heart-rending true story of a simple man whose life is cut short.

Colton H. Bryant loves Wyoming and loves life. And Wyoming loves him back - it's got everything he needs. He spends his school days dreaming about where he'll go fishing or how many jackrabbits he might be able to catch that night. And when he's old enough, like his father and his father's father before him, he gets a dangerous job on the oil rig. Colton always said everyone would feel sorry one day for making him waste all that time in school, and Colton was right.

Amazing

This is truly one of the best books I've listened to or read the old fashion way, in decades. There's just something about the narrator's perfect voice along with the incredible story I could not stop listening. I will carry the story and spirit of Colton in my heart for a long time. Highly recommended.

AMAZING on all accounts!

Ed Sala did a fabulous job narrating this book! His interpretation of the characters is wonderful and adds so much to the listening of this book.. and on to my review of the book...

It was AMAZING! There are a lot of people in this world that probably wouldn't think so, but for anyone who grew up in oil country, coal mining country, Wyoming, NW Colorado or any of the likes -- for anyone who knows the "cowboy/redneck/roughneck" way of life -- it was amazing!

Both my husband and I were touched by this book -- I have a "big, tough guy" for a husband and he was bawling like a baby right along with me! As he said, the author got this one right! Without spoiling it for anyone, the characters were believeable and "hit home" in so many, many ways! The descriptions and stories throughout the book were "spot on" and by the time you get to the end, you feel like you knew Colton H Bryant and all of his friends!

We would recommend this book to anyone, but would definitely recommend it to anyone that I described above!

In reading the reviews of this book, I feel like the majority of the people who gave this book lower ratings were those who just didn't get it! They didn't get the characters or the lifestyle or the book at all -- that's okay -- but if you do get it... it's a dang good book!

Poor book

The Legend of Colton H. Bryant paints an extremely negative reflection of Wyoming from the weather to the people and the culture. Very biased and uninformed writer.

Another Disappointment

I loved Ms. Fuller's autobiography "Don't Let's go to the Dogs Tonight" and have been disappointed by her later books. Her description of both the characters and the landscape were so overblown that -rather than awe, which I think she was striving for-I felt bored, even though I know and love the area in Wyoming she writes about. The narrator, with his golly gee approach and ridiculous laugh didn't help.
