Facts of life show barely mentioned!

As a fan of both Facts of Life and Different Strokes, I was disappointed that there was very little content of either show. Also the ending of this book seems abrupt and anti-climactic.
If you’re interested in how Charlotte Rae grew up and her early work, this is a good read.

Not what you expect!!!

From the title “ Facts of my life“; You would expect more about The TV show she played in “ The facts of life“. You get a brief description Of her TV show.
If you analyze the title “The facts of my life“; that’s what it is, the story of her life!
It’s mainly about her son Andy with autism; (she talks about him constantly in this book. Most of the time it’s not necessary; I guess she just feels the need to throw his name in there. In fact sometimes I wonder why he’s mentioned at all in most of the book. She does have two sons.)
Her Broadway career is a big part of this book also! In fact it seems like she didn’t really like doing her TV parts but Broadway and the theater was very important to her! Don’t get me wrong she does tell about her entire life; however she didn’t need to talk so much about her Broadway career and the theater and her son Andy to make this book work!!! It would’ve worked just as well if not better if she would’ve give her sons equal time in the book and not so much about theater; but more about her TV career because that’s what the title suggests is that she’s going to talk more about her TV career and I’m not sure she enjoy the TV part of her life!

She is so entertaining and funny that, that is what saves this book(at least in the audible version)!!! By the way she read it, it had me laughing, even in parts that probably shouldn’t have been funny! She is definitely an entertainer!!!

You have to look at this book for pure entertainment only!!! I have it in Audible; if I was reading the physical book I’m not sure I would be so entertained (I think it would be a hard read if I was actually reading it myself)!!!

A true Legend

I was drawn to this book to learn more about the life and legacy of one of Television’s most iconic actresses, and I’m glad that I did. What a remarkable story of a woman who never gave up on being a beautiful human being, even in her golden years. Thank you Charlotte, for your contribution to the arts and teaching us the real facts of life, love🫶🏽.

Good autobiography of an actor’s life

Entertaining and captivating story of an actor’s life journey. Rae and Strauss worked their selected stories into a solid narrative of history, actor’s journey and family. Rae hit every note of her performance beautifully, but I did listen at 1.2 speed to shorten the pauses. Worth a listen.

Absolutely Amazing!

I loved this book! I've always been a huge facts of life fan and have always adored Charlotte Rae. This book makes me love her even more and makes me miss her tremendously. She was such a kind and caring woman and a truly talented one. She has so many lovable quirks and mannerisms and it feels like Charlotte is really talking to you. Definitely a good read! Miss you Charlotte R.I.P <3
