Publisher's summary

Teresa Rhyne vowed to get things right this time around: new boyfriend, new house, new dog, maybe even new job. But shortly after she adopted Seamus, a totally incorrigible beagle, vets told Teresa that he had a malignant tumor and less than a year to live. The diagnosis devastated her, but she decided to fight it, learning everything she could about the best treatment for Seamus. Teresa couldn't possibly have known then that she was preparing herself for life's next hurdle - a cancer diagnosis of her own. She forged ahead with survival, battling a deadly disease, fighting for doctors she needed, and baring her heart for a seemingly star-crossed relationship. The Dog Lived (and so Will I) is an uplifting and heartwarming story about how dogs steal our hearts, show us how to live, and teach us how to love.

Goodness!

What a strong woman! Either situation would defeat many, but both at the same time! A lot to say about love & support & what they can see one through. Excited to read author’s other books. Great narration.

Fantastic memoir

I loved this story! Who doesn’t love a cute beagle? I really liked going into the story knowing that both Seamus and Teresa survived cancer. In addition to the moving and heartfelt aspects of this story, it was also funny in many parts! I enjoy her writing style and will be looking for more by her.

Sweet story.

I enjoy reading books that have animals or that are about animals, especially books with horses and dogs
I am also quite critical of those books; mostly because I grew up with a secure sense of knowing how to be around animals. I know how to create healthy boundaries and that when a person feels “sorry” for an animal, they end up causingmore harm to that animal mentally than helping it.
I think Teresa’s whole relationship with this dog was not ideal, from the start, at least for the dog
I get it though; it is hard to adopt a pet not knowing anything about the animal but I think, if you can “step away” and really think about the why, it is rather easy to se Why this particular Beagle was abandoned. It is never right to abandon an animal but know it happens all the time.
This book does a good job conveying the extreme emotional distress of the dog and the emotional bond that Teresa might have needed.

I think it is awesome that Teresa revealed so much of herself with taking us through Seamus getting cancer, in one of the worst places possible, his chemotherapy and radiation to her own struggle’s with breast cancer.
Truly a brave thing to write and it is done in such a conversational way with humor mixed in. Kudos T!!!

Excellent! An intensely personal & candid memoir

This is a true story about life & love that anyone can relate to. Teresa does not pull any punches in relating her struggles not only with cancer but with love and life. She reveals incredibly personal & intimate details of her journey starting with a new romance, a new dog who develops cancer & on through her own cancer & lessons learned coming out the other side. The story is told with candor & humor. I found myself laughing out loud many times while listening during my long commute. I highly recommend this book!

Beagle lover here

Hi! Your description of the Beagle couldn’t be more perfect. I am a beagle breeder and vast lover! I’ve suggested the book to my show and companion beagle friend far and wide.
