Publisher's summary

The aviators. The Amtrak. The ice cream cones. The memes. Few politicians are as iconic, or as beloved, as Joe Biden. Now, in The Book of Joe, Biden fans will finally have the definitive look at America's favorite vice president - and what he can teach us.

Structured around key moments in Biden's life and career - and filled with Biden-isms like "That's a bunch of malarkey" and "I may be Irish, but I'm not stupid" - this blend of biography, advice, and humor will reveal the experiences that forged Joe Biden, and the lessons we can use in our own lives. Along the way, listeners will also encounter fun asides about his love of muscle cars, his most endearing gaffes, his bromance with President Obama, and much more.

Yet beneath the memorable Biden-isms, the book will reveal an inspirational story of a man who keeps "getting back up." We need this right now. Much as Biden has come back from both professional missteps and personal heartbreaks, sometimes we all have to get back up and fight. Given Biden's reputation as a decent, plainspoken, patriotic statesman of integrity, this entertaining and practical book will be both a celebration of great political figure and an essential guide to creating the America he believes in so dearly.

a rose colored look at a not so rosey life

I enjoied it. It was a one sided pro Joe book about his ups and downs in life. There were no deep criticisms or flip side of the coin. Still I relushed listening and found myself laughing in parts and tearing up in others. I learned a bit more than I knew about President Elect Joe Biden. That was my goal and it did that for me.

The Book of Joe

What a wonderful book about a true public servant & patriot. It’s filled with things that made me laugh, things that made me cry & mostly things about a down to earth, decent & humble man who just wants to look out for the “little guy”. Does he claim to be perfect? No. Does he admit he’s made mistakes just like every human among us? Yes. I really enjoyed reading this book about the life of Joe Biden & the many contributions he has made for our country!

How every man should feel about other people.

How every man should treat fellow humans, and men should hope and inspire to be more like Joe Biden. Regardless of political,

Great Overview of Joe Biden’s Life

I really enjoyed this audio book and especially the narration. It’s a good way to get to know Joe Biden’s life and character. It’s especially interesting since it was written before he became President! I highly recommend it.

The Book Joe

I thoroughly enjoyed The Book of Joe, a terrific insight to a man who has truly dedicated his life to public service. Nice to hear how mistakes and missteps were life lessons and how Mr. Biden learned from these. Funny, endearing, and at times tragic, Johnathan McClain delivers a stellar narration.

Not a serious political biography

This book is fine as far as it goes, it presents a good overview of Joe Biden's life up to 2017, but misses the part where he gets to become President at last. the book is fairly uncritical of its subject. the Kinnock plagiarism scandal and consorting with segregationists are excused and explained away. What does come over well is Biden's political pragmatism and the stories of his early life.
