Fascinating!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook to friends, especially ones interested in English history. Linda Roper's accent is perfect for telling this story.

What did you like best about this story?

History had never been my favorite subject, but this audiobook was so fascinating, it changed my stance on history. In the past, I had not followed the history of Prince Philip and I was fascinated by his noble character and how devoted he was to Queen Elizabeth. If only every woman had a Prince like him! The story is also about Queen Elizabeth as well as other members of the family. I'm not much for words, but I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Queen Elizabeth's noble Prince and their life together

A bit too colorized a portrait

Sometimes a generous and dignified portrait such as this misses it's most noble attribution by glossing over the more arduous parts of the hero's journey.

background of a "royal" you don't think about

Would you listen to Prince Philip again? Why?

Yes, he is mostly in the background compared to the Queen, but if he comes into the news on his own, eventually, then I would go back and listen to this to remind myself of his early years, before they married. The voice was good- very cultured, elegant, refined. "Proper".

Have you listened to any of Linda Roper’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to "Toddy The Tomcat", which was a cute, lighthearted children's rhyme audiobook, but done with messages and wisdom for young children, and I listened to "The Girl With the Green Tinted Hair"- this was for a young adult audience, done with a magical, wonderful voice performance- the author's words are simple, and telling a story that is fantasy, but it covers a sweeping statement- I needed to listen to this twice in order to absorb the message, and I am not even sure I got it, even at the end.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was pretty easy to listen to all the way through; nothing heavy or "dark". I liked the narrator's voice and how it made the words flow.
