Seeger's Ultimate Storm Surge

Wow. I'm so glad I took a chance on this title. Yes, the reviewers of the previous volume were right when they noted that the music that plays both between and behind Seeger's spoken words is a little hit-and-miss. Sometimes it supports his words, and sometimes it distracts from what he's actually saying. But MAN, you will never forget these stories, and the fact that Pete had it in him at age 94 (when he knew he didn't have many days left in which to speak out) to arrange this music should be enough to make any fan curious to hear it. I can tell you that you'll find yourself listening a second time, and a third, and playing snippets of Seeger's stories for friends and family. Near the beginning, he relates a harrowing tale of his daughter's imprisonment in Mexico. Somewhere in the middle, he tells of the extraordinary life and accomplishments of the great Paul Robeson. Near the end (which will bring tears to your eyes), he tells of the death of MLK. He states, for the first time publicly, what he thinks actually happened on that fateful day on a hotel balcony in Memphis. My jaw dropped, but my husband and I looked at each other and said "I'll bet it's true" and "He's probably right," almost at the same time. This legendary Civil Rights, peace, and environmental activist had some unforgettable stories to tell, and I'm so grateful he chose to tell them to us in this lovingly musical way. R.I.P., Uncle Pete! "Thank you for being such an inspiration" is an immense understatement.
