Poorly written, seems racist

Australian cities pronounced wrong. Blandly written. Vaguely racist undertones. I was expecting a lot more Roller Derby. Pretty dissatisfied.

An exciting life story from a spirited athlete

If you could sum up Hell on Wheels in three words, what would they be?

Unusual, adventure, personal.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Cindy is of course the focus. She tells us all about her life in the roller derby leagues in the U.S. and Australia. I like to watch roller derby, but I never knew what the player's lives were like.

What does Commodore James bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He deals with the changing scenes in the story with an ability to keep the new events fresh. He reminds me of an actor or narrator in a movie.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cheered very hard for Cindy to succeed and enjoy her life. She went through a lot, and I'm glad the sport of roller derby has returned to popularity.

Any additional comments?

The book should have been even longer. Cindy is a very interesting person and I rooted for her the whole way. One of the most enjoyable biographies I've read or listened to in a long time.
