Publisher's Summary

Picking up from where his first memoir left off, Dr Tom is back with more of his gloriously eccentric stories. Still based as a locum in his beloved Scotland, he now takes time out from the surgery for stints as a medical researcher, travelling wherever he is called, from Rio to Jerusalem, Vienna to Singapore.Part memoir, part travelogue, Going Loco takes us on a dizzying journey around the medical world - from the challenge of a make-shift surgery in the African bush, to the terror of smuggling beagles into Amsterdam on behalf of a global pharmaceutical company. We encounter extraordinary characters on the way - impossible patients, brave souls, and more than a smattering of crazy doctors.

Something's wrong with the recording.

Would you try another book from Tom Smith and/or Tom Smith?

Yes. We'd especially like to finish this one!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Going Loco?

The part where we realized that we'd already heard what we were hearing. approximately 7 hours and ten minutes into the story.

I've so enjoyed Dr. Tom's stories, wonderfully read by the man himself. His humble courage in the face of the unpredictable world is marvelously heartening. From tears to belly laughs, this and his first book are well worth a listen. I'm onto the third now.

Another enjoyable chapter in Dr. Tom Smith's life.

I enjoyed these further tales from the Scottish Dr just as much, if not more, than the first book. I found his narrating had improved, he sounded much more relaxed. Again, I found it easy to build up a picture in my mind from his descriptions which brought his tales to life. A very small piece of me feels he has so many wonderful stories to tell, can they all be true? But working in the medical profession myself I have listened to colleagues tell similar stories, and with Tom's years in the career it may well be possible to have had so many experiences. I hope the most recent book will be released as an audio book very soon.
