Publisher's Summary

This is an amazing and powerful first-hand account of credit identity theft, and a vital tool towards understanding what we are all up against in our current age of data collection and unchecked data use. The author, Denise Richardson, paid a little extra on her mortgage each month, hoping to shorten the length of her mortgage and pay less in interest charges. That simple, recommended practice catapulted her into a decade of epic David vs. Goliath battles, stealing her true credit identity and 10 years of her life. After reclaiming her good name briefly, she realized others were shredding her credit, thus stealing another five years of her life.
Denise paints a human face on the insidious effects of identity theft, inaccurate credit reporting, and loan servicing fraud while offering knowledgeable tips to avoid becoming a victim of a system gone terribly wrong. This audiobook will show you the errors and dangers of certain conventional wisdoms, allowing you to steer clear of gut-wrenching financial problems.

NOT about identity theft, but good tips anyhow

This story is NOT about identity theft. The unfortunate author DID have a TERRIBLE - and very instructive - time dealing with an unethical, unscrupulous, BIG & ARROGANT mortgage lender, which ended up unjustifiably wrecking her credit AND her marriage. And then, to make matters worse, she got on a credit merry-go-round with a healthcare provider that kept marking her paid bill as unpaid. But it's not identity theft. To her credit - and our benefit - she does insert many excellent tips & pointers throughout the book on how to protect yourself and your credit, which is why I give this book three stars rather than two... or one. I still want to know how to protect against - and mend from - identity theft. Narration is pleasant, easy to listen to.
