Publisher's summary

Parts of this memoir, by an award-winning and best-selling author, appeared on ESPN and in Rosie.

Fractured Not Broken is a true story of loss, faith, and a rare love that only happens in nonfiction. In a sweeping and heart-wrenching narrative, Kelly exposes the truth about what happened after a drunk driver rendered her a quadriplegic. She shares how she found her way back - through faith and pain, her community, her family, and the love of a man she prayed for.

Critic reviews

"Life has its tragic moments of defeat, setbacks, and fracturing for everyone. Kelly's story proves, however, that individual momentum, personal progress, and genuine achievement can still be attained. Her courage and optimism are uplifting." (Dr. Dennis E. Hensley, author of Jesus in All Four Seasons)
"This is a real life story of heroic virtue - especially of courage, humility, and generosity - a triumph of faith, hope, and love. This story involves the very essence of the human spirit, family, and community. To know Kelly and her journey of miracles is to know that with God all things are possible." (Most Reverend Charles C. Thompson, bishop of Evansville)

Must read for healthcare professionals

This book is written from a first hand perspective of someone who has experienced many of the challenges I have heard patients speak of during my 40 years in healthcare. I found it to be very insightful and feel that it should be read by anyone going into healthcare. As an Occupational Therapist who has taught at the university level, I would recommend that OT and PT students read it to be able to sit in the chair of patients they will be treating during their career.
Thank you for being willing to share your experiences in such an authentic way!

Amazing!

I laughed with you and cried with you while listening to this audiobook. I rejoiced with you and mourned and cheered you on after your first kiss! My mom, who already had dementia from a previous stroke at age 51, is coming up on her one year anniversary of being a quad. Like you, her therapy did nothing for her. I want to hug you for your poignant openness! Thank you for helping me hear what mom possibly may be thinking but cannot express. I loved this book! Most of all, how you continue to praise God. Keep your faith Kelly!
