Publisher's Summary

Funny, inspiring, honest - the perfect listen for anyone with well-worn trainers by the door (or who's thinking of buying a pair...).
Vassos Alexander shares the highs and lows of falling in love with running, from his first paltry efforts to reach the end of his street to completing ultra-marathons and triathlons in the same weekend. This is a celebration of running - and what lots of us think about when we run. Part escape, part self-discovery, part therapy, part weight loss. Part simple childlike joy of running when you could be walking. Each of the 26.2 chapters also features a fascinating insight into how others first started - from Paula Radcliffe to Steve Cram, the Brownlees to Jenson Button, Nicky Campbell to Nell McAndrew.

Inspiring to build up your mileage.

I listened while training for a half marathon. The inspiring stories of athletes who went from normal lifers to ultra marathoners makes that 10 miles "long" training session short. And helps to put into perspective how "tired" you are after running 10k.... It helped me get to the half marathon level.

Listened whilst running!

I listened whilst training for Great North Run - absolutely loved it. Vassos is my running guru - keep telling everyone about him. Think the fact he was narrating is what made it so engaging. I feel we're now running buddies!!!!!

Try to get past Vassos Reading the Intro

I really struggled to listen to Vassos read Chris E's blurb at the beginning. No one should ever read about themselves in the third party, it just sounds horrifically pompous and arrogant. It made trying to get into the rest of the book very difficult as my mind was rather distracted with a false projection and opinion. As they say, first impressions are hard to shake even when you know better.
