As a former Currahee, this book accurately portrays the best and worst of the 506. No other book or movie describes the frustrations of deployment and the ramifications of toxic leadership better than CPT Hill's account. It was amazing how much came flooding back after listening to Hill's recollection and how accurately he describes Afghanistan. Definitely worth your time.

Having served under Captain Hill and First Sargent Scott for the 2008 to 2009 deployment to Afghanistan. I can say with out a doubt they we're the best company level leadership I had encountered in my almost five years at Fort Campbell. Their dedication and love for us (their men) was amazing. The book is true to life, we did not receive proper support and detainees we're repeatedly released even though we had evidence to support further detainment.

I loved this book. The thing that makes it a great read is the fact that the characters are real. it's heart breaking because of the pompous higher echelons of command sending and spending americian soilders lives due to military politics. a wonderful book exposing the plight of the coalition troops.
This story is saddening and frustrating, but a must listen. Kudos to Roger Hill for his ongoing efforts
