Publisher's Summary

He burst upon the fusty corridors of Victorian spirituality like a breath of fresh air, regaling one prime minister with his sense of humor and touching the lives of seven presidents. Who was this man?
A visionary educator and fundraiser, D.L. Moody was also a renowned evangelist in the 19th century. Long before radio and television, he brought the transformative message of the gospel before 100 million people on both sides of the Atlantic. Thousands of underprivileged young people were educated in schools he established, and before the Civil War, he went to a place no one else would: the slums of Chicago called Little Hell. The mission he started in an abandoned saloon drew children by the hundreds, and prompted a visit from president-elect Abraham Lincoln in 1860.
Drawing on the best, most recent scholarship, D.L. Moody: Life chronicles the incredible journey of one of the great souls of history.

Topical and Not Chronological

The book is interesting but the lack of a smooth chronology makes it hard to follow. The author seems to be using a topical approach rather than a chronological approach. A general timeline and order is maintained but it still seems like a look collection of reports about different aspects of Moody's life.

Excellent and thought provoking

I have not finished the whole book yet but I fully intend to. In giving a detailed report of D.L. Moody's life, this book brings in many other notable people we already know and how they affected the world and Moody's life. it is so imteresting a story that one could not possibly be bored. Thank-you Kevin Belmont for writing this book and Grover Gardner for his interesting and easy narration.
