What did you like most about A Year of Living Prayerfully?
The author is incredibly open and curious, looking for inspiration to deepen his prayer practice in some of the unlikeliest places. Also he is deeply respectful and appreciative of people different from himself.
What other book might you compare A Year of Living Prayerfully to, and why?
The Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs: both authors transform as a result of their journey. Jared Brock goes on an actual journey, but the inner journeys are comparable: both learn more, appreciate more and change their own routines as a result of what they have found.
Have you listened to any of Jared Brock’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I believe this is his only audiobook. But I will definitely give it a try if he records another one.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I enjoyed the sections about Judaism and Quakers. An incident in North Korea was a bit scary.
Any additional comments?
Jared is a Christian through and through. I am not but I still got a lot of inspiration from this book.
