Publisher's summary

Bringing to life the world of the Old and New Testaments, the acclaimed creator of the best-selling Don’t Know Much About® series transforms dry, difficult reading into colorful and realistic accounts. Relying on new research and improved translations, Kenneth C. Davis uncovers some amazing questions and contradictions about what the Bible really says:

  • Jericho’s walls may have tumbled down because the city lies on a fault line.
  • Moses never parted the Red Sea.
  • There was a Jesus, but he wasn’t born on Christmas and he probably wasn’t an only child.

Don’t Know Much About® the Bible entertains and astonishes, but more important, provides a much better understanding of the world’s most-owned but least-understood anthology, with much more fun along the way.

Much More than the Title Implies

I was hesitant about listening to this book because the title implied to me an elementary treatment of the subject. However, the book turned out to be a very detailed review of the content, meaning, history, language, and archaeology of the Old and New Testaments. I found this book to be fascinating, and I plan to listen to it again.

Great overview of the Bible

This book is very educational and shares a lot of historical context to better under the Bible. I am a Christian. This book comes from a scholarly perspective and takes no religious bias. It gave me a deeper appreciation and understanding of all the books of the Bible.

Great Book

Well done. I read mostly history books and this one was well researched and executed. It's true that most people have no idea what is in the bible. Most have never read it even though they believe it's the word of God.
Spoon fed by the Church and blind in faith.

Another terrific Kenneth C. Davis book!

No matter your faith or religion, this book is great for the curious minded. should also be required for the angry atheist and the blindly faithful. The author does a good job of navigating the minefield of authorship, historical accuracy and context, sources, inspiration, intended audience and message, common and popular errors in translation, and influence of media.

Very interesting book.

It's always important to learn more about the bible and it's teaches, as it has impacted most of us lives. This book helps in it's own way to clarify some unanswered questions. I'm happy I was able to learn from it.
